EXCLUSIVE: Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 has picked up another project as it is hitting the ground running since the company joined with Sony and Chinese investor Fosun Group. Studio 8 has just acquired the feature rights to high-concept thriller The Brain Hack from writer-director Joe White. The story is about two students who create a way to induce hallucinogenic visions of God and then are stalked by a mysterious cult bent on destroying them. The film screened Saturday at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival. The project will be produced for the big screen by 3 Arts’ Erwin Stoff, Will Rowbotham and Richard Abate. Studio 8 next will hire a screenwriter to work with White, who is also expected to direct the feature version.
