The Lifetime Network explores the dark underworld of church youth groups in High School Possession.

Lauren (Janel Parrish, Pretty Little Liars) is a typical high school student and aspiring investigative reporter. While working on a piece about a local youth group who refer to themselves as “The Chosen,” Lauren witnesses what appears to be an exorcism in the basement of their church.

Though initially deeply frightened by the sight, after Lauren’s friend Chloe (Jennifer Stone, Wizards of Waverly Place) begins acting particularly strangely, Lauren enlists the help of Olivia (Shanley Caswell,The Conjuring), the leader of the Chosen, to potentially help solve her problems. However, she soon learns that there is much more to the youth group than they are letting on, and that performing an exorcism may be dangerous.

On paper, everything about High School Possession should lead to it being a complete disaster, yet I still found myself having a lot of fun with it at times. Despite its technical flaws and cheap, made-for-television appearance, there’s something about the film that just keeps you from changing the channel.
