Nightscape – 2012

The official trailer has arrived for the supernatural horror thriller ‘Nightscape’, the feature debut of producer, author and director David W. Edwards, which premiered just a short while ago this month at the Montreal Comiccon Horrorfest. Come on inside to atch the trailer and find find out what else David has in store, surrounding his film that combines action-adventure with surreal, Lovecraftian horror.
An emotionally guarded drifter crosses paths with a phantom car responsible for a wave of supernatural violence. She must learn to trust again if she is to end a lifetime of bad luck and help her newfound companions survive.
The film will be supported by a series of ancillary products. The most immediate releases include an original novel, a video game and the film’s soundtrack. This soon to be published novel has its origins in the first Nightscape-related screenplay written by David, andd tells the story of three high school seniors who gain unwanted paranormal powers. They have to uncover the source and purpose of these powers in order to prevent the collapse of reality on earth. The book features two characters from the film, though in decidedly different guises.
The video game is a free iOS action-driving game with the goal to outrace a nefarious phantom car through a series of rural burgs in a tricked out El Camino. The phantom car slows the players progress by transforming hapless bystanders into tentacled monsters. Of course it comes with all kinds of goodies to be used in the game, as well as different difficulty settings and fifteen levels.

Last but definitely not least there will be the release of the soundtrack for ‘Nightscape’, composed by John Morgan Askew, who also scored a number of indie films like  Calvin Marshall (2011), and worked uncredited on HBO’s ‘Deadwood’. Regarding his creations for ‘Nightscape’, think spaghetti western meets retro-80s score. The soundtrack consists of twenty tracks and comes in close at close to sixty minutes.

‘Nightscape’ is co-produced with A.J. Gordon (The Truth), with the aid of associate producer Keith C.A. Jones (The Runaways). Other notable production team members include Patrick Neary as director of photography (Calvin Marshall); editor Ben Meader (Brutal Beauty); sound designer Jason T. Edwards (NBC’s Grimm); and composer John Morgan Askew (Calvin Marshall).
