     I had a problem throughout this movie because it was just so strange. In one sense it did have me feeling a little Boxing Helena, but it also had another side to that. I mean the character who would be Helena in this movie wasn’t any more sane than Dr. Cavanaugh.

     The story is about a boy named Alex (Nicholas D’Agosto), who is very curious about why other people are the way they are and why they feel the things they do. The movie actually starts out with him inside someone else’s house just watching them quietly from a nearby room. He works at the local library and notices that one couple comes in all the time only to check out the same book. Their emotion is one of complete sadness and they seem to be his biggest curiosity as to what would make someone that sad. He overhears them talk about how this will be their last time coming in and decides to follow them home to see if he can find out what makes them tick. As he is watching the woman, Alice (Cheryl White), she sees him and calls to her husband, Mark (Kevin Kilner). He decides that is his opportunity to go into their house for a closer look. They both find him and instead of calling the police decide to offer him something to eat. It turns out he looks just like their son, Timmy, who died a year earlier and that is why they are grieving. As Alex is leaving he gets hit by a car. They bring him back into their house to take care of him. The longer he stays the more convinced they are that he is Timmy. So now Alex, has to figure out what it is going to take for them to realize otherwise, all the while the mother is becoming more and more aggressive with her techniques to persuade him he is in fact Timmy.

     The acting is subdued for the most part, but that is what is required for the roles. The outbursts come from almost nowhere and it adds a lot of drama to the film. D’Agosto does a very convincingjob of being someone who doesn’t know how to have his own emotion and White does a great job of being just the opposite. The movie mostly takes place around the D’Agosto, White, and Kilner, so it is good that they are very believable.

     I don’t know really how much I liked this movie. I mean it was good for what I was and it made me feel very claustrophobic at times. It is similar to other movies, but that can be said about most these days. If you’d like to see something in the vein of the earlier mentioned “Boxing Helena”, with a different set of circumstances you should check this out. One quick thing, it isn’t all just a dream this time.
