Emma is a country girl who left for the big city only to return years later with big problems. Werewolf Rising is directed by BC Furtney and stars Bill Oberst Jr. (Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies), Melissa Carnell (Boggy Creek), Matt Copko (Dirty Laundry), Brian Berry (Hellspawn), and Irena Murphy (Bitter is Better).
Werewolves are my favorite monster by far. I love werewolf movies, books and even real life folklore about the creatures, I just can't get enough of them! It's no secret to werewolf and horror fans alike though, that werewolves definitely get the shaft when it comes to film, most of the great ones were made decades ago now. But Werewolf Rising brings something back that the genre does not see enough of, a werewolf made with practical effects! I'm very tired of CGI in my monster movies and was very excited to see this film after finding out about a completely "on camera' werewolf.
Werewolf Rising is just pure B-Movie fun. A great watch with some creepy scenes and a very dark, backwoods atmosphere and a high sense of dread and isolation. I feel this film accomplished exactly what it set out to do. The plot is not obvious and you really feel like the main character is safe from no one. Everyone is friendly but seem suspicious and seem to be hiding something. The ending was awesome and cuts to credits at the perfect moment. The ending was also pretty unexpected and the film does really keep you guessing what's going on but is not confusing.
I really wish they made more werewolf movies like this these days, fun and with a great throwback feel. I recommend everyone looking for this when it comes out on DVD on October 14th, just in time for Halloween.
